SPRING...March 15th thru June 15th. Spring brings new life to the mountains. Frost is common through April 15th, and, although rare, it has been known to snow as late as the end of April. Mornings are chilly and winds add to the chill. April 15th to June 15th night temperatures in higher elevations range from 40-50 degrees. Day temperatures range from 65-75 degrees.

 

 

SUMMER...June 15th thru September 15th. Summer turns the bold beauty of the rugged mountains to emerald green. Nighttime temperatures range from 55-65 degrees, with daytime temperatures from 70-80 degrees in higher elevations. Afternoon thunder-showers are common.

 

 

FALL...September 15th thru December 15th. Fall announces the arrival of leaf season. A collage of brilliant colors, painting the mountains with red, orange, yellow, green and gold, peak mid-to-late October. Nighttime temperatures range from 30-40 degrees in higher elevations, with possibility of 20-30 degrees November 15th thru December 15th. Snow is likely in higher elevations (4,000 feet or higher) during this period. Daytime temperatures range from 60-70 degrees during late September, and 30-40 degrees in early December.

 

 

WINTER...December 15th thru March 15th. Conditions can be quite severe. Temperatures at night may range from 0-20 degrees especially during January & February. March is very unpredictable; it can get quite cold during the first two weeks. Daytime temperatures throughout this period usually range from 20-35 degrees. However, temperatures may reach 50s. Snow is common throughout this period.
